The design of the Amity is based on traditional and seaman-like principles that have been blended with modern materials and construction. This makes a practical boat to own, with the benefit of traditional shape with timeless classic appeal. The on water appearance is a faithful reproduction on an early 1900’s Moreton Bay Mullet boat. The underwater lines are modern and ensure stable easy responsive sailing. Every aspect has been dealt with to the highest standards, the boat is built to a demanding specification utilising only the best of materials, our hulls are solid fiberglass and built within controlled limits to the highest quality standards. It’s overall strength and safety features make it much more than a social day sailer or weekender. In fact she was originally designed for short handed expedition work so she has the capability, safety and capacity for longer passages in testing conditions.
This is a local project and three completed commissioned Amity classics are in use in South East Qld. Sandpiper is based on the Gold Coast while Portaethwy and Dulcebella are based at Manly. The third yacht Dulcebella is available for purchase.
This is the ideal vessel for the time poor sailor who loves traditional yachts with the appeal of timber and who loves to sail a responsive boat. The fact the structural elements are all GRP and that the Boat is light to tow means that this boat will not dent your wallet with ongoing maintenance and wet storage fees.
